NOTES FROM RELEASE DAY

Some notes from today's release day.

NEXT RELEASE DAY
-February 2013 or sometime sooner?
-We can revisit this during our next department / grade level meeting.

NEXT STEPS

1.  Email Cynthia your 9 names and their EAP Coffman scores.
2.  Continue with Critical Reading Practice (using critical thinking questions).
3.  Integrate EAP Multiple Choice Questions during CST quiz Wednesdays.
4. Utilize various resources below and others shared during release day.

5.  Evidence Portfolio
We will bring to our next release day
-examples of narrative writing (multi-draft)
-example of critical reading (see 2012 Portfolio)

ADDITIONAL NOTES

Most of us said we would integrate the critical thinking passages at least once a month with our students.  Cynthia suggested the following approach: 1. Model (teacher goes through the questions with a passage) 2. shared reading/discussion of passages  3. Students work in groups to work on a particular passage 4. Independent practice

We agreed to reading and composing questions that we may add to Wed.'s CST quizzes or at least once a month for the following months: 1. November 2. December 3. January 4. February 5. March
Teachers will scan their own answer docs so we can see results in Data Director. (I can help anyone that doesn't know how to scan)

Our goals: 1. Increase our overall passing rate from 17-25% 2. By January 2013, 60% of our target group (9 students) will score 4 or higher on the EAP assessment 3. 70% (approximately 6) of our students will score 80% correct on the monthly assumptions practice (short GRE passages or other passages we select)
